Varnishing has been the favourite finishing for real wood for decades. Tough enough for use on high-traffic areas such as hallways, foyers and gymnasiums, wood floor varnishing is also ideal for use in playrooms as it offers excellent protection against wheels, toys and scrapes.

Varnishing will not change the colour of your floor. If you are looking to lighten or darken your wood floor then you can use a coloured varnish which will take your floor one or two shades lighter or darker than its original shade.
Safe to use products
All our finishing products are manufactured toxin-free and can therefore be used safely in any environment. Normally a floor will require a total of three coats of varnish each of which takes a couple of hours to dry completely. In order to avoid smudging and damage to the finish we always advise our customers to leave the room empty for a few days in order for the varnish to properly cure.
Sand then varnish for optimum results
It is always preferable for a wood floor to be sanded before a finish is applied.This would naturally involve the removal of the previous finish, a smooth and even sanding throughout with flaws and wood damage repaired before the new varnish is applied.

We have been in business long enough to know that to rush a floor job is the greatest folly. It is also a mistake to miss out any of the steps; no matter how ‘smooth’ the floor may look to the naked eye it is never a good idea to re-varnish on top of any other type of finishing.
